Abstract

The vision systems of the animals enlighten the research of the robotic area. The relative positions of two eyes of predator and prey are different which are monocular and binocular visions, respectively. A biomimetic predator-prey vision system is proposed based on a self-reconfigurable robot called Hinged-Tetro. Hinged-Tetro inspired by Tetris is composed of four hinged cubes, which is able to reconfigure into all one-sided tetrominoes (seven shapes). The robot equipped with two cameras can mimic and apply the vision mechanisms of predator and prey by changing its configurations. Finally, the experiment test is performed to illustrate the concept of the proposed robotic system.
