Abstract
A review and summary of all twenty five papers submitted to Theme 3 of ISC'2 on "Innovative technologies and equipment" is contained in this report. The papers confirm that significant and high quality research and development is taking place in this area. A range of materials from very soft sea bottom clays to hard rocks as well as contaminated material is dealt with. A particular concern is dealing with sites that have interbedded and random hard and soft zones. Four of the papers also deal with site characterization for seismic loading conditions.
