Abstract
An internet-based Geotechnical Information System (GeoInfoSys) was developed based on the integration of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) and Association of Geotechnical and Geoenvironmental Specialists (AGS) data structure to efficiently store, organize and disseminate geotechnical information on-line. The system provides easy-to-use functions to (i) locate and purchase boreholes of interest, (ii) view bore logs that are generated on the fly, (iii) view cross sections generated based on the user selections, and (iv) generate AGS files on the fly. Issues related to initial and future development are discussed.
