This paper presents a novel Ku-band bidirectional mixer with directional control, implemented in 0.18 μm SiGe BiCMOS process. The proposed design is based on ring mixer core with resistive feedback buffer amplifier at the intermediate frequency (IF) port, directional control is enabled through the transmission gate together with the PMOS switch. With 8 dBm local oscillator (LO) power, the designed mixer has achieved a low simulated conversion loss of 2.5 dB and 4.2 dB for down-conversion and up-conversion respectively, with isolation greater than 25 dB.
