Abstract

The volumetric expansion of benzoxazine resin upon curing is reported to be a consequence of the moleuclar packing rather than the ring opening polymerization mechanism. And the molecular packing can be a direct consequence of hydrogen bonding. In addition, this class of phenolic resin has been shown to have a high potential for structural or engineering applications.
