Abstract
An ultra-wideband (UWB) low-noise amplifier (LNA) with active balun is proposed. It introduces a combination of a common-gate (CG) stage and a resistive feedback common-source (RFCS) stage to simultaneously cancel the thermal noise of the two stages. Based on the proposed noise cancellation mechanism, a balun-LNA with 16 dB gain, NF 2.8 dB and IIP3 1.5 dBm was designed. The total power consumption is 8.4 mW.
