Abstract
This research is a study on the possible scenarios of landfills after closure, which aims to find a model to transform the closed landfills. We believe our work holds great importance in helping the future transformation of closed landfills, especially those facing the end in recent decades. This research introduced some possible scenarios of closed landfill transformation and analyzed their advantages and applicability. We do think that there is great potential to be tapped in closed landfill transformation. For each landfill is a unique one, it is hard to find a general scenario which can be suitable for all. So we select Singapore and Shanghai as the objects of this research. But there are still some common things in every transformation scenario, which is protecting the health and safety of people and the environment. We hope to witness through a semi-inductive methodology, which consists of rich data collection (i.e., through existing data analysis and interviews), theoretical summary (i.e., literature review), and contribution to the objects(i.e., assessment and applicability analysis).
