Abstract
Society is constantly changing, and with it, the role of Architects and purpose for Architecture constantly shifts accordingly Through analysing trends in both present day reality as well as Sci-fi, this thesis re-imagines a near future where urban experience is becoming more and more localised due to technological improvements which has resulted in a hybridised reality. Cities and technology present a dichotomy in how they operate as a social network - a tension between collective identity and hyper-individualisation. This presents Architects with a new materiality - of refresh rates and resolution, to reimagine architecture and especially so - the purpose of the public realm, and therefore the design of this piece of infrastructure in supporting both the individual and domestic living, through a digital and physical system that employs the use of overlay and masking.
