Abstract
The objective of this research is to provide a simplified process to select cleaning robots, using different pertinent attributes that are crucial from a stakeholder’s perspective. As part of this research an exhaustive list of pertinent attributes for various properties of cleaning robot have been identified and marked as appropriate attribute for various stakeholders; Designer, Manufacturers, Suppliers and End users. Every stakeholder have their own perspective and importance. Designer uses the process to select a best product available in the market, identify the pros and cons in the product to design a better product. Manufacturer’s focus on the cost effective production of cleaning robot without compromising on the quality. Supplier likes to provide a high-quality cleaning robot and excellence in service support to the end users. End user prefers to buy a cost-effective product that meets the requirements and has a warrantee for service support. The list of pertinent attributes helps the stakeholders to avoid their research in identifying the attributes by themselves. From the numerous cleaning robots available in the market, a hand full of robots are picked based on the primary requirements. Then values for these pertinent attributes are collected and applied for both objective and subjective attributes. These values are then normalized and weightage is applied. From the weighted normalized specification values the best and worst cleaning robot is identified for each attribute. Comparison of every potential cleaning robot against the best benchmark robot is performed and ranking is given to all the potential cleaning robots. The ranking provide to the potential cleaning robots during the selection process helps the stakeholder to select best cleaning robot that meets their requirements and perspective. Overall the simplified selection process helps the stakeholder throughout the product development life cycle by identifying the pros and cons from the best robot available in the market and create a better cleaning robot, assisting the Designer to design a better robot, Manufacturers to build a stable robot, Suppliers to sell and support best robot and End users to use the best cleaning robot.
