Abstract
In 2020, following that of COVID-19’s exacerbation on the declining economy, not only retail but the rest of the economy was too in dire straits. Hence it is imperative that one should take all means necessary to safely be able to revitalize the economy. For the thesis design, the main goal was to supplement an existing mall with a secondary system to bring about growth in a relatively stagnant or regressing retail space. This is achieved through understanding of the existing Collective Form and the utilization of circulation linkages in the form of communal, composed open space that mediates in the existing stagnant system and connects and proliferates a growth model of Group Form as defined by Fumihiko Maki, to build on the existing nature of the malls.
