Abstract
This thesis aims to explore the geometric, structural and spatial potential of bamboo as a construction material in organic buildings, namely through the adaptation of natural geometries from the illustrations of Ernst Haeckel. The research focuses on the adaptation of organic 2-dimensional drawings and elements into 3-dimensional structure and space. The workflow constantly moves between the dimensions, working between the digital and physical, and develops in different scales. It aims to engage in an organic design process that allows variation of natural forms to suit different parameters and desired spatial qualities. It also explores taking a more suitable approach in the assembly process of erecting such structures. These culminate in an application to a topographical site in Hopong, Myanmar. The selected geometry adapts and imprints upon the steep mountain slope, creating a beautiful and productive space that rejuvenates architecture and culture alike
