Abstract
Internal Tree Decay Assessment is often carried out by National Parks Board (NParks) by estimating the extent of decay within a large standing tree to assess the risk of tree failure. This process is tedious and cumbersome as it involves arborists collecting data using various tools that may be of low accuracy and then processing them separately and offsite resulting in an inefficient workflow. RezScan is a LiDAR-enabled mobile app that obtains tree surface geometry and computes and displays internal decay estimates when Resistograph readings are input into the app. Utilizing the LiDAR-enabled app, tree assessments can be done reasonably accurately (1.0 cm precision error) and onsite without the need for further data-processing.
