Abstract
Despite the importance of subway interchanges, their underwhelming architecture are an inadequate response to the role they play in society. Heavy reliance on graphic signage and neglect to review station architecture has caused wayfinding in stations to feel detached, confusing, sterile and stressful. There exists an architectural reference that can be used in lieu of wayfinding, with which comes an opportunity to rethink current subway conventions, enrich commuter experience and improve subterranean architecture.
