Abstract

Coils Costs dynamic wireless power transfer foreign metal object detection Impedance Inductance inductive zone detection Metals Resistance Sensors
This paper proposes a new detection method for foreign metal objects (FMOs) based on a new detection array. Compared with traditional foreign metal objects detection (FMOD), the proposed method can detect smaller FMOs without any external sensors. The nature of the method is to decouple the receiving coil ( R xs ) that has similar feedback characteristics to small-size FMOs. Hence, the cost of FMOD system is reduced in the actual implementation. Furthermore, this kind of FMOD does not require communication. So it has high stability and can be easily realized. Finally, the experiment results prove that the proposed method has a high effectiveness for detecting small-size FMOs (able to detect FMOs up to 1.08cm 2 ).
