Abstract
In this review, recent progress on TMS/MXene composites for utilization in energy storage systems is the key point and summarized in terms of the single metal sulfides/MXene, bimetallic sulfides/MXene and heterostructure sulfides/MXene. The corresponding synthetic strategies, morphologies, performances, electrochemical mechanisms and optimization tactics are discussed in detail. Furthermore, challenges as well as perspectives for future materials design to promote the reformation of TMS/MXene composites for emerging energy storage systems are presented.

Transition metal sulfide (TMS)/MXene composites have received tremendous attention as reliable electrode materials for high-performance energy storage systems including rechargeable batteries and supercapacitors. Compared with the pure MXene and sulfide, they exhibit greatly lifted cell property, which is mainly due to the synergistic effects derived from the high conductivity, fast electrochemical kinetics and good structural stability. In this review, recent progress on TMS/MXene composites for utilization in energy storage systems is the key point and summarized in terms of the single metal sulfide/MXene, bimetallic sulfide/MXene and heterostructure sulfide/MXene. The corresponding synthetic strategies, interaction, morphologies, performances, electrochemical mechanisms and optimization tactics are discussed in detail. Furthermore, challenges as well as perspectives for future materials design to promote the reformation of TMS/MXene composites for emerging energy storage systems are presented. It is hoped that the substantial technical and fundamental breakthrough in the field of energy storage is not far from us.
