Abstract

Cnc-Knitting Gfrp Composite Material Design Textile Hybrid System
This paper documents the design and shaping of a multi-material textile stay-in-place formwork as an advancement of our ongoing research - a proposed workflow to fabricate curved GFRP architectural cladding panels of non-developable and non-orthogonal geometries. It involves incorporating polyurethane (PU) yarn with glass fibre (GF) yarn at specified areas to compose a multi-material textile with regions of differentiated elasticity. We posit that this textile design offers control over the principal curvatures of the surface membrane's geometry when shaped via a modified textile hybrid system.
