Abstract
A new simple efficient Q-switched Nd:YVO 4 mini disc laser pumped with a laser diode array is presented with a V-folded cavity. Its output properties are characterized and the thermal effect is analyzed. The optical-optical conversion efficiencies up to 68% for free-running operation and 8.7% for Q-switching operation are demonstrated with a nearly diffracted-limited beam.
