Abstract
Drawing on oral testimony, this paper examines the 'imagined community' of Ukrainians in Bradford. It explores how their sense of a Ukrainian identity has been shaped by memories of Ukraine's troubled history and by the changing international political context, up to and immediately after Ukrainian independence in 1991.
