A stability-improved spectral-element time-domain (SETD) method based on Newmark- \beta scheme is proposed. The algorithm preserves the explicit solution property, and the time step is doubled compared with that of the traditional SETD method. In addition, the novel algorithm has a significant effect on the suppression of late-time instability. Some numerical results demonstrate the ability and accuracy of this algorithm.
